How We Build Better Communities

There are many ways to champion health.

“There is so much good to do in the world and so many different ways to do it.”

Enoh Udoffia

Acorn Healthcare Founder

Acorn Healthcare’s community support, delivered through the grassroots efforts of our employees, the Acorn Healthcare Foundation and Acorn Healthcare corporate sponsorships, helps sustain childhood and youth development programs, scholarships, community-based health clinics and the operating budgets of countless not-for-profit organizations across the country. Across the organization in 2022, Acorn Healthcare provided $44 million to community organizations. Acorn Healthcare colleagues supported over 6,700 organizations by giving more than $17 million with Acorn Healthcare matching and volunteering more than 143,000 hours.

Strengthening communities

Our model of giving – led by the leadership, service and financial support of our employees in their communities – reflects our view that a strategic outlay of talent, resources and time yields stronger communities. This model also fosters our culture of inclusion and teamwork, strengthens our cultural competence and cultivates goodwill within the diverse communities we serve.

Economic benefit

Through employment, investment and charitable giving, Acorn Healthcare strives to make the economies of the communities we serve stronger. Our model of giving—led by the leadership, service and financial support of our colleagues in their communities—reflects our belief that there are many ways to champion health.

Community support

Many of our colleagues live and work in the same communities and neighborhoods as our patients. We want the same things that our patients want: healthier communities that lead to healthier tomorrows.

Sustainability

At Acorn Healthcare, our dedication to improving more lives in more ways is directly connected to the impact we have on the environment, as well as our understanding of how the environment impacts overall health and well-being. Acorn Healthcare’s environmental strategy includes short- and long-term sustainability plans. Our strategy is centered on incorporating the following four key pillars into our operations: managing energy and water responsibly; enhancing climate resilience; sourcing and consuming efficiently; and managing the environmental impact of our capital programs.

Disaster relief

Acorn Healthcare and our Enterprise Emergency Operations Center (EEOC) stand ready to respond to any crisis. It is during crises that the best of who we are shines through, as our scale, scope and experience allow us to ensure patient care is uninterrupted, to support our colleagues and to rebuild our communities.

Supplier diversity

In 2022 Acorn Healthcare will spend over $500M with small, historically underutilized businesses to include minority-owned, women-owned, veteran-owned, veteran disabled-owned and LGBT-owned suppliers. By utilizing products and services offered by these suppliers, Acorn Healthcare promotes job creation at the local and regional level, which helps create economic stability and improves lives in the communities where our patients and colleagues live and serve.
